Big Sur Day 3: A Bump in the Night

yesterday was sunny! today its even warmer. yesterday we went to see the waterfall onto the beach but it was too foggy as you can see in the pictures. The fog was beautiful enough though. Spent the rest of the day being lazy and had a campfire to cook dinner on. We had roased asparagus and carrots with honey, cinnamon, and fresh rosemary Lucas found, and some yummy baked beans and leftover mashed sweet potatoes and beets from our last supper with Lisa! So good! Then Lucas showed off his talent of playing the flute and the drum at the SAME TIME! Quite amazing I'd say.
Then suddenly in the pitch black of the night, i was awoken by Luke calling my name. He was still and silent for a minute, perched up listening. I held my breath in fear and anger of being awoken. He felt something poking his arm from underneath the tent! I didn't believe him and thought he was crazy. Soon it happened again. He placed my arm where he felt it, and surely something was under there! It kept popping up for the next hour in different spots. We shined a light on the spot and saw it move! He proceeded to stomp the area in hopes to scare the creature. Satisfied we tried to sleep again. Soon enough it happened again. We never figured out what it was. He hopes it was a gopher, while I had a dream that we looked under the tent and found a snake. Whatever it was, we couldn't find any evidence in the morning, other then some holes and loose dirt where it must have burrowed. Luckily we checked out of our campsite at noon today, and don't have to face it again!
So now, we continue north, up to Monterey and Santa Cruz.

Big Sur = Still Awesome

wow
note the banana slug as mentioned earlier, 20,000 year old tree Luke is in front of, secret beach, and an orange starfish in one picture if you look closely!
pretty wet now, hangin at the lodge restaurant drinking a Big Sur Ale by the fire drying off.
manifesting a dry sunny tomorrow!

Days 1-2: Journey to Big Sur

We spent our last night in Ocean Beach, enjoying the company of our friends. We rose at 4am to begin the drive. Luckily, the drive from San Diego through LA and Santa Barabara went surprisingly fast, probably due to the lack of sleep, and we soon entered into an unknown world to us. The landscape and traffic became empty, and we drove through endless rolling green hills, among occassional wineries that resembled castles.
Realizing the 101 and 1 highways are different, just in time we jetted across via the 46 over to the 1. Thank goodness for those maps! (thanks Carl!)
We then reunited with the ocean in Cambria. There were elephant seals! Then we started to ascend the Big Sur coastline, and witnessed the most amazing awe inspiring beauty we've ever seen!!! We saw whales, waterfalls, California condors(the largest bird in North America, also endangered), redwoods, and blue ocean for as far as you can see. Now we are camping among redwoods and the Big Sur river. It started to rain in the night and has continued into a light mist this morning. We will probably stay a few more days and hope that it clears up! Today will include a rain hike (Lisa inspired), and going to see a waterfall onto a beach!
Most exciting new creature we've encountered: banana slug! (possible pictures to come)
Stay tuned and send free money if desired.
Much love

The Deep Breath Before the Plunge

today we spent most of the day trying to finish packing, organizing, and cleaning out our house. its funny how much stuff you can fit in a one room house! how do we gather so many useless things and let them sit around, and then move them wherever we go, and not even use them? i'm quite frustrated with trying to organize such things, and more just saddened at how much we waste!

Last day of work was yesterday hooray! I'm going to miss the Lotus family so much and I hate to leave you all behind! Can't I just take you all with me?? I'm so grateful to have so much support from everyone, and i'm sure we will reunite someday! Its sure does feel good to let go or work for a little while though!

i guess right now we just have to persist on with the cleaning and organizing and trying to figure everything out last minute...it feels really weird sitting around in our house with no stuff. I feel that i avoid going home just because there is no couch to sit on. what does one do when one has no stuff?

going away party at 6 tonight! hope to see you there!

The Initial Leap of Faith

There we are. Jumpin off a waterfall. Pretend this is the epic beginning of our journey. Minus our friend Lisa there on the left, although she will remain with us in heart.
This is where it all began! (several months ago)

Computer vs. Hippies

So, this is an old blog i created and tried to get a fresh start, but I don't really know what I'm doing, so its a little funky! Please ignore things that don't make sense. Ha!

Anyways! Hooray for new blog! Tomorrow is my last day of work (wooo!) and then March 1st Luke and I are jouneying into the mild. Consensus says blogs are a good way to keep all the people who are obsessed with me updated on my life.

Just kidding! This is an anti stalker website.

Oh man, I haven't written things for the public to read in awhile, just stay tuned for more technology mishaps and bad jokes. :)
